I am not a morning person.
In fact, I am the only person in my family that doesn’t get up with the sun. I once told my manager that if I could come to work at 10 am, he would have a completely different employee. He turned me down. For six years I worked a job that required me to be clocked in at 7am. Needless to say I had to find a way to make mornings “my thing.” Here are a few idea that I came up with.
- Take your shower before bed. This is definitely my number one tip. Taking a shower at night definitely helps save you time in the morning.
- Create something to look forward to
For me, it was coffee. Whether I made it my self, or created time to go to Starbucks, I knew that I slept too long I would miss my oppourtinty. And Pierre without coffee, if not a Pierre you want to meet.
- Set out your clothes.
For me, this was easy because I wear the same navy blue scrubs everyday. I did have to make sure that they were clean and ready to go.
- Pack your meals.
The less you have to worry about the better. By packing your meals, you not only can just grab it and go, but you save a little money too!
- Put your alarm across the room.
Whether it’s a actual alarm clock or the alarm on your phone, if you place it across the room it will force you out of the bed to turn it off. I used to put mine in the bathroom.
These are a few of the things that helped me before I eventually switched to night shift. Comment below some things that help you get up in the morning.
