There are lots of things that make working night shift difficult, but makeup shouldn’t be one of them. I started wearing more make up to work because people would always ask me if I was tired, or if i was ok. You see, I have what are called “Betty Davis” eyes. They slant down giving the impression of being tired. I prefer the word Dreamy. So you can imagine how this could be a problem when I’m working night shift?
So I had to figure out a “work face” pretty quick because those questions get real old, real fast. It needed to be simple and quick because I would prefer to get a few extra minutes of sleep over ‘beating’ my face.
So here’s what I came up with:
Primer: Too Faced Hangover Rx
Foundation: NYX Stay Matte but Not Flat Liquid Foundation in Caramel
Concealer/Contour/Highlight: Fenty Match Stix in Maple, Truffle, Rum
Blush: Cargo in Rome
Eyebrow: Colourpop Brow Pencil Dope Taupe
Eyeliner: Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner
Mascara: Better Than Sex Waterproof
Setting Spray: Urban Decay All Nighter
Lipstick: MAC Whirl or Mehr, Coloupop Stingraye ( MAC Chili pictured)
Now I know this looks like a lot , but I promise it literally takes about 10-15 minutes and is pretty subtle. This combination gives a really natural look. Just enough to know I put some effort into getting ready. The key is remember that less is more. There’s no need to cake up your foundation or do heavy eye makeup. I really just want to look awake!
